If you are being cared for by an Ontario midwife this class is designed for you! This class is for individuals considering where they would like to give birth: a birthing centre, at home, or in their community hospital. Maeghan Macpherson will walk you through the out-of-hospital birth research, what it's like to have a baby out of the hospital environment and answer your questions! You are welcome to bring anyone to this online class who wants to learn more about the OOH options, as well as the risks and benefits.
This class can be taken at any time during your pregnancy.
By joining us, you will have a better understanding of the following:
The research on planned out of hospital birth vs. in hospital birth within the midwifery context.

What do home births and birth centre births look like?
What supplies do I need for labour and birth at home?
What to consider when you're planning a water birth.
What are the most common emergencies during labour, birth and the immediate postpartum?
What does an EMS transport look like in an urban setting vs a rural setting?
